Cadet Program
The Frankfort Fire Cadet Program, established in 1984, has been a vital part of the department for decades. Designed for young men and women aged 15 to 21, the program provides an introduction to Fire and EMS services. Under the guidance of dedicated firefighters, cadets gain hands-on experience, learn essential skills, and explore career opportunities in emergency services.
Weekly Meetings & Training
Meetings take place every Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Cadets train with district staff, practice using firefighting tools, and ride on apparatus.
Participation in public education events and specialized training sessions at the Illinois Fire Service Institute in Champaign.
Many cadets go on to become professional firefighters and paramedics. Notably, former Fire Chief Bob Wilson began his career as a cadet in this very program.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) License
Paramedic License
Basic Firefighter Certificate
